The Beast in the Reeds

“Slay the beast!”

“O God help!”

She slumbers not deeply,

Her voice fragile,

With body weary.

Amidst dark vigilance haunting,

The beast hunts.

Shadows of teeth and claw,

With breath of doom…

And she Loose footed,

And self minded,

Becomes prey.

Relentless,

Ravenous hunger

Awaits her fall.

Weakening,

She listens…

Her name poison

Upon forked tongue.

More shadows falling;

Black air,

Her heart assaulted…

Arrows of lie,

Flashes of light,

Her weakened plea

Rises,

Incense strong,

Reaching Heaven`s fury.

Thunder!

Blood!

Victory!

The beast slithers,

Cowers,

Defeated…

Silence falls

As shadows fade.

Sunrise awakened,

Healing sweeps,

And she…

Is saved.
